Last time Hudcomm shot Annabelle, it was for our Glamour Boby Art project with Maria from www.glamourbodyart.com.
Annabelle recently aquired several new dresses from an overseas designer and wanted some photos for her agency. We decided to brighten things up with a new set design with some wonderfully vibrant colours which would compliment the dress.
Annabelle’s makeup artist fell ill a few days before the shoot and we were unable to organise another, however the shoot went ahead with Annabelle doing her own makeup and hair.
Katie and I only had 30 minutes the night before to run through a few test shots on the new set, so most of the lighting changes where being done as the shoot progressed. Annabelle looks glamerous and we were happy with the way the set complimented the dresses.
Thanks Annabelle!

Hailee Marie is an actress who came to Hudcomm so as to expand her modelling portfolio.
She’s been acting for about seven years now, both on stage and in dozens of small budget and short films. Hailee comes from a small town located on the North Island of New Zealand – one she was very surprised to find that Hudcomm were familiar with! – and she has been in Australia for some time now.
What Hailee needed from Hudcomm were a variety of images to spice up her portfolio. While the weather was far too cold and wet for us to shoot outdoors, we spent a lot of time in the warmth of our Belgrave studio combining a series of different looks with different backgrounds and photographic styles, to provide Hailee with a true variety in her modelling images.
Look out for Hailee as her career continues to grow!

Recently Sass, a seasoned model we’ve worked with on several occasions, brought along her long-time best friend Tegan, to Hudcomm Central for a double shoot.
Tegan has never done any modeling before, but with Sass’s encouragement, was keen to give it a go and see what she could do.
The dual shoot went for more than five hours – yup, it was a long one, folks, but at Hudcomm we do like to put aside enough time to really focus on the shoot to hand and get the best results from any model (or models, as the case may be).
Mark shot several series of single and double shots, with multiple outfits for each model and several locations, from the studio to domestic scenes. Both girls modeled very well and we created some lovely images.
Afterwards, we realized that the number of shoots Sass has booked with Hudcomm has reached into double figures! Thanks Sass! :-) This means she is very used to the way we shoot and how a Hudcomm shoot flows.
Tegan, with no previous experience, at first watched Sass as she did her first set, before stepping up to the plate herself. Tegan got right into the swing of it quickly, however, and did really well, most especially for a first timer!
So well done Tegan and Sass!

A handful of weeks ago, Hudcomm photographed Peter, an aspiring young model and entertainer with an impressive CV of successful performances behind him. We were recommended to him by an old friend of ours, Queen Serpentine, an alternative model we’ve worked with many times over the years.
When Queen Serpentine met Peter and heard what he was looking for in terms of portfolio work and as marketing for his entertainment business, she knew Hudcomm was just the place!
Peter’s an experienced drag queen and entertainer whose alter-ego is the lovely, delectable Danya Tushis, whom we had the delight to photograph one week later. Peter even brought some DVDs of his performance along to Hudcomm Central, and upon watching them, everybody – including Mr. Hudcomm himself, Mark – assumed Danya really was a girl under that skirt!

Thanks to both Peter and Danya for a couple of great shoots with fantastic results!

A couple of weeks back we had the pleasure of photographing the lovely Beth again. Last we saw Beth, she came to visit Hudcomm Central in the company of Lauren T., a model and friend, but this time it was a solo shoot with lots of new outfits to try.
Beth’s previous shoot with Hudcomm was way back in early 2008, so this was the first time she’d been to the new Hudcomm Central, with all our new props and all the studio space to shoot in!

The weather was kind, so we were able to get outdoors as well and take advantage of the late afternoon light.
Ended up with a wide variety of great images – thanks Beth!!
We’ve been playing with some more body art, down at Hudcomm Central. Our favourite body paint artist, Maria (www.glamourbodyart.com) popped around to spend a laid back four or five hours painting Madison in classic Venetian theme.
They chose a corset design and face mask, which we shot against both black and white backgrounds. Madison’s partner, Steve, and their bubbly little baby boy came along to watch.
This is the second time we’ve worked with Madison, as she’s also featuring in our soon-to-be-released Mums-That-Model book, and we’re glad for it, because we almost weren’t able. Madison was one of the first to stick up her hand to be a part of the MTM project, but the week before her shoot she and Steve lost everything they owned in the Black Saturday bushfires. It was just fortunate they had taken the family, including pet dog, for a day trip away to escape the heat and so were well out of the area when the fires came through.
We’d just like to say thanks to Madison for working with us on two occasions now and thanks to Steve and baby boy for coming along and enjoying the body-painting day!

Being a photographer is not always about working with beautiful models, shooting a high energy sporting event or having the privilege of shooting a couple’s wedding day. Sometimes it’s simply about giving back to the community and helping those who can’t afford to pay for your services. Each year Katie and I provide our services free of charge to several not for profit charities and organizations.

This week we covered, for the Mental Illness Fellowship of Victoria, a MCG breakfast and then the Bruce Woodcock Memorial Lecture held at the BMW Edge in Federation Square. Dr. David Morris was the key note speaker for Schizophrenia Awareness Week. Social inclusion was the main subject and he spoke on his experiences as the head the Inclusion Institute in the UK. His lecture was very interesting as he showed how social inclusion goes beyond housing and employment.
If you get the opportunity to offer your gifts and talents to a NFP organization please consider doing so. Apart from proving assistance to that organization you’ll also get a great sense of community and self fulfillment. A big thanks to all the volunteers that also assist the MIFV and give their time to ensure the organization can deliver its programs.

This week we had the pleasure of working with Maria from www.glamourbodyart.com yet again. You may remember we recently blogged about our 3 part Glamour Body Art Series we did with Maria over the Easter break, with three wonderful models: Jess, Mariya and Annabelle.
For these most recent works, Maria teamed up with a model who has relatively minor experience with photographic modeling but who stepped up to the plate and was extremely professional, patient and tolerant when I decided to do the shots outdoors. Remember, this has been the coldest April in decades!
Sammii http://www.modelmayhem.com/1108981 stood patiently while Maria jpainted an outdoor garden environmental flower design theme which took around four to five hours to do.
Then I decided to shoot Sammii outdoors, where it was a warm 16 Deg celcius, with only a little amount of sun breaking through and fading in the late afternoon. I wanted to put the design Maria had created into an outdoor setting so as to try and blend it in with the garden, as well as get the contrast between the green painted on Sammii and the brown in the timbers and trees outdoors. We hope you like them and thanks again Sammii!
Hudcomm has finally succubed to Twitter. If you’re on Twitter and want to follow us, seek us out at www.twitter.com/hudcomm. We will be getting our blog feed to update your Twitter feed as soon as we can.
