Melissa Returns

Melissa's back! Hudcomm first shot Melissa back in 2005 and followed it up with a series of shoots over the next three years.  We've not seen her for a good couple of years now, as she's been off travelling, up to Uluru, and Cairns, and the Cook Islands, just to name a few. Now she's back, Melissa is keen to get back →

Sass & Teagan back

Sass and Tegan are Hudcomm regulars who have kept us busy over the last couple of years keeping their portfolios up to date.  They always have new outfits and hairstyles to photograph, and new looks they want to capture. Here are some of our latest with Sass and Tegan:

Sheridan’s new Swimwear – One Trick Pony

Hudcomm has been shorting Sheridan since 2008, when we first made the journey to cold Ballarat.  Since then, we've shot with Sheridan right across the state at a variety of locations, from our studio through to the beaches down the surf coast. As well as her work and her family, Sheridan is a talented dress and swimwear designer.  We shoot her →

Tarryn’s first shoot

Tarryn is new to modelling and made the journey to our Belgrave studios all the way from the outskirts of western Melbourne for her first photo shoot ever.  It didn't take her long to get into the groove, getting used to the lights, how to pose, all the outfit changes.  She'd love to pursue a career in fitness as well →

Makeup Artist (MUA) or Model?

Samantha is an experienced makeup artist we've had the pleasure of working with several times over the past three to four years. Samantha runs Bombshell Beauty, a glamorous, personalised beauty service operating across Melbourne, catering to both models and weddings.  She visited our Belgrave photographic studios again recently, but this time it was in need of images of herself - usually Samantha comes →

Sporting Kids

“You’re not taking my picture, Dad!” Did you ever say that to your father? Twisting their arms, ever so gently, I was able to entice my two children, Chris & Lauren, in front of the camera recently. Having helped their Dad out on dozens of shoots over many, many years, they both know the drill  well when it comes to posing →

Mandy’s 2nd visit

Alternative model Mandy took time out to revisit Hudcomm Central recently, for her second series of images with us. Mandy is relatively young and new to modelling, but she now has close to a dozen shoots under her belt. While still at school, studying her VCE, Mandy fits her modelling in around her studies and her social schedule. It was good →

The Photographer and the Writer

Photographers and writers – we’re all storytellers. Recently, we had the pleasure of photographing freelance writer Ruth McIver. Ruther’s work has been published in a number of online forums and print publications, including Beat, The Big Issue and The Age. As a music journalist, freelance writer and arts review, Ruth has an impressive background! So when Ruth came along to Hudcomm Central, →

Chilling with Chhean

It was a pleasant surprise when Chean arrived to learn she was a mum, which made it a hat trick for mums over the long weekend at Hudcomm Central. Chhean had seen our images on various other girls' sites and booked a shoot with us. This was Chhean’s first time in front of the camera and she was a little nervous →

Trixxy

Trixxy's new to the modelling scene, but is a great up-and-coming alternative model.  She does her own makeup and styling, and is excellent to work with, willing to listen and take direction when required, bringing her own ideas and enthusiasm to the shoot, and has a great work ethic. We had a grand time shooting with Trixxy - here are some →

Sass and the shower

We recently dragged a camp shower into the studio to experiment with some water-based shots.  One of Hudcomm's regular models, Sass, came along to help test out the concept. The shower itself takes less than 20 minutes to set up, is battery operated and needs only one warm bucket of water - though Sass tells us it needed to be warmer! →

Some TLC

Over the Queen’s Birthday weekend, Tara was the first of three mums that visited Hudcomm Central. By the end of the long weekend there was a little déjà from last year’s Mums that Model book and DVD we produced last year! Tara Lee made the effort to travel down from Ballarat to shoot with us. Only having had one or two →

Mia Cruiz punks it up

Earlier this year we shot Mia with Ian for a series of couple shoots, first outdoors at the beach, then later in the studio. Mia has returned for a solo studio shoot with a punk alternative look. Mia’s long hair is one of her most striking features, so we decided to highlight it in this series. Mia had two different looks →

Rockin with Rhiann

With winter now well and truly set in, many of our upcoming shoots for the next 4~6 months will be indoors, mostly at our Belgrave studios. Rhiann visited us in late May for a series of shots at Hudcomm Central. This was only her second or third time in front of the camera, but her first time with us. Rhiann has →

Flat Tyre Flyers – Winter Series Race 1 @ Kurt Kiln

For those who like their Sunday morning sleep in's, cross country mountain bike racing is not for you. Some 50 competitors of all ages, male and female took to the hills in and around Gembrook. There was multiple grades for riders, which varied the course length and the distance you ride. Katie and I like to cover MTB XC and DH →

Sandy’s back to school

Sandy is one of our mature age models. She has been working as a professional print model for many years now, including working with Hudcomm for five to six years. We wanted to have fund with this shoot and make it more experimental, so we tried a few different outfits and poses.  Here are some of our favourites from the shoot:

Happy Mothers Day

It’s always great to photograph a new born baby with their parents. It’s even better when you get to do the shoot on Mother’s Day, especially when it's the Mum's very first Mother's Day! Ricci Lea and her partner Corey joined us at Hudcomm Studios yesterday, with their 12 week old baby boy Seth.  Seth  was born on 9th February →

Boudoir Photography

Boudoir.  Defined by most dictionaries as "a woman's bedroom or private sitting room."  The term derives from the French word meaning 'to pout', and thus refers to a room for sulking or pouting in, where ladies were sent to sulk in private.  Hardly too flattering! These days, however,  the photography world has adopted the more modern usage of boudoir as referring to →

A few recent shoots

Sarah - We recently met Sarah while casting roles for a music video. Sarah looked great on set in her white bikini and heels but came into the studio for a few shots in a dress. It was nice to see you again Sarah and have you into the studio. Mandy – The market demand for alternative models over the past →

Keeping your agents up to date

Actress Hailee Marie was back at Hudcomm Studios recently to update her head-shots for her new agency. It’s been at least 8 months since we last photographed Hailee.  With her change in agent she wanted to completely update her portfolio, but it's important for actors and models to always keep their head-shots current and relevant to the work they are pursuing.  Your →

Summer returns with Winter

Early in February we had great fun shooting with Summer.   This week, Summer returned for more shots, bringing her sister along with her this time, who Mr. Hudcomm himself inevitably, but affectionately, named Winter. As always, it's twice as fun shooting with two models, and Winter did a great job her first time in front of the camera.  Here are →

Bella at the Beach

We headed back to Torquay for a sunset shoot with Bella recently.  Not that there was much sunset, with the clouds masking the sky and the wind whipping up hair, sand and waves, but we made it through the not-so-favourable weather conditions to produce some great images. Bella designs and makes her own formal, bridal and bridal part dresses, so we →

K9-1 visits Essendon Airport

We were out at Essendon Airport early last Saturday morning with Rap / R&B recording artist K9,  filming for his forthcoming music video.  We had a black Bentleigh, K9-1 as well as a Red Ferrari convertible and an 8 seater luxury Lear Jet all on hand for the shoot. A huge thanks to Ian, our on-ground contact, for all his support. Big →

1972 Ford XA GT Replica

We were scheduled to shoot Meleesa with a 1972 Ford XA GT Replica the day one of the worst hail storms in years hit our part of Melbourne.  Rather than shooting, it was a day spent watching the Bureau of Meteorology's radar feed and sheltering inside; Hudcomm Central still ended up with a tree on the roof!  Luckily the damage →
